Painting Contractor Has 30 Years
Experience, Strives For Quality And Trust

There’s nothing quite like a deftly-applied coat of paint to give a home a fresh new look inside and out or a faux finish to add an extra dimension to your space. Experience counts for a lot but not without trust, and that’s the quality Ron Rooker stresses when he talks about his business. Rooker, of Ron’s Painting, has been in the trade for 30 years and has been operating on Sanibel and in Lee County since 1991.

While it’s a competitive field, Rooker says his pledge is to “provide quality without question.” He said his crew of two – father and son – are licensed and insured and as the owner, he’s always on the job himself as well. “It’s important for people to know they can trust me. “We say what we do, we do what we say – and we put it in writing.

“My employees have been drug tested and had background checks and are covered with workers compensation and liability insurance,” he added. One spin-off from his years in the business has been to become a member of the Quality Service Pros, a group of contractors “with good reputations” that he can make referrals to.

He is also collaborating with Barbara Bell, interior designer of Fort Myers, who specializes in feng shui. “It is hard for people to come to the island having to look for reputable people to do work for them,” he says. “I can bring a decorator with me, instead of the customer having to come to us. It’s better to look at colors in your own home.

”Rooker’s Web site, www.ronspainting.com, gives a useful insight into his work, with more than 200 photos showing interior and exterior examples of his work including faux treatments. He has taken courses on faux finishes to keep up with the latest trends.
He says faux finishes are often a better choice than wallpaper because they can be painted over when no longer wanted, whereas wallpaper has to be stripped, a labor-intensive job.

As for the latest color trends, Rooker says yellow will be big this year, something that is also happening in fashion, as people seek sunny shades to offset the gloomy economy.
