FORT MYERS, Fla. - April 25, 2016 -- Across the Country, April 30th is Recognized as National Window Film Day (NWFD) but many Americans don't know that the average window may only protect them from up to 25% of dangerous ultraviolet rays. Compared to window film, which can offer up to 99% protection, this leaves them susceptible to skin cancer.

The International Window Film Association (IWFA), a nonprofit group of leading manufacturers, distributors, and dealers, is working to fix that by spreading awareness of National Window Film Day (April 30) and the many benefits of window film.

"National Window Film Day is a valuable opportunity for families, homeowners, drivers or any other citizens to learn about the benefits of this affordable technology," said Jack Mundy, president of the IWFA. "Window film offers benefits that apply to our health, energy use, and overall well being. We're proud to consistently support National Window Film Day and encourage our country as a whole to participate, as well."

To spread awareness in Southwest Florida, local business owner and member of the IWFA, Chris Russo of Beverly Hills Window Tinting & Treatments, has helped to facilitate this effort for a second consecutive year by requesting and receiving a proclamation signed and sealed by Mayor Randy Henderson of Fort Myers, proclaiming April 30th to be National Window Film Day in this city.

In celebration, Russo has issued an open invitation to Southwest Floridians to join him on National Window Film Day, Saturday, April 30th at 15130 S Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers where educational exhibits on the benefits of window films will be displayed.

"Window film really does offer numerous benefits for consumers and business owners," shared Russo, an entrepreneur who has been able to turn window tinting into a profitable, 25 year old business with locations in Naples and Fort Myers. "From skin protection, to reductions in heating and cooling bills, we're hoping to introduce people to window film as a non-intrusive, reliable fix. Everyone is invited to our Fort Myers location to learn and celebrate with us!"

The celebration takes place from 12:30pm - 2:30pm. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and refreshments will be provided. In addition, attendees of the NWFD celebration can purchase a $150.00 gift certificate for $125.00. To attend email Chris Russo or call (239) 489-3838.

The IWFA represents some of the leading makers of window film, and the association's membership includes nearly 500 distributors, dealer, and installers of window film.

"Once installed, window film can save a homeowner approximately five to 10 percent on the homes total energy bill," added Darrell Smith, executive director of the IWFA. "More importantly, the IWFA remains committed to new research to better understand the health implications of indoor sun exposure and we look forward to sharing our findings." he added.
